Design of efficient assessment process and platform for 1,600 employees across the region

Our client was a prominent contracting company in the design-build construction of industrial and commercial facilities in the Middle East, with 1,600 employees across the region. With the goal of boosting the organization's performance, the management wanted to evaluate the alignment of its workforce capabilities with the companys goals and objectives. It needed to assess specific competencies with maximum accuracy and ease, for all its staff in all office locations.

The MENTOR team was involved in all stages of the assessment exercise, with the project scope covering: provision of an online assessment solution, assessment questionnaire development, employee communication plan, implementation testing and support, and results analysis.

The first phase involved creating assessment questions to evaluate behavioral competencies related to the companys goals and objectives. We also developed the scoring methodology, assessment policy, and report template. For the assessment platform, we used our 360° assessment solution to enable the HR team to carry out the exercise efficiently and evaluate abilities of each employee by managers, subordinates, peers, as well as self-assessment. We then tested the solution through a pilot round, before making modifications where necessary and rolling it out to the entire workforce.

In addition, we prepared a communication plan for the HR team to explain the process and its purpose to employees. We also designed a guided system tour and system pop-ups to create a smooth user experience, and set up automated reminder emails to staff to support participation. On assessment completion, our team helped with the analysis and validation of the reports generated by the system, and highlighted significant variances in individual and department results.

The solution was developed successfully and rolled out according to plan, with minimal hassle to the HR team and to staff. The companys management was able to get a comprehensive view of capabilities, not only on an individual level, but more broadly for all departments, country locations, and the organization as a whole.
